Coleman Public Library to switch downloadable eBooks and Audio books to cloudLibrary (Bibliotheca) December 13th, 2021

Order Transcription Services

Coleman Public Library will be moving to a brand new e-book and e-Audiobook platform called cloudLibrary.  This platform will replace Overdrive being used now.

Why the change?  The Big Country Digital Consortium was continuously looking for opportunities to provide better services at a better value for Texas libraries.  The existing consortium received regular criticism that the system was too difficult to use.  The cloudLibrary is app-based and has a simpler process to check out and download titles.  Libraries in Texas that have offered both systems say the clouldLibrary is much easier for library patrons to use.  Additionally, the cloudLibrary will allow more Texas Libraries to participate in the Texas Lending group.  Under the old platform, many types of libraries were not allowed to participate due to limitations imposed by Overdrive.  Now, any library wishing to participate will be allowed to join.  Allowing more libraries to join and participate translates into more people in Texas reading and more content being purchased – a great thing for all of us.

Our current system, managed by Overdrive, will be turned off December 13th, 2021 and the cloudLibrary will be launched the very same day.

Once the system is live on December 13th, 2021, simply download the app for your device by going to the app store and typing in cloudLibrary and follow the links to login via your library. The cloudLibrary will offer an App-based user experience that makes it easier to download eBooks and e-Audiobooks.  The cloudLibrary App highlights the best and freshest titles, and also allows for patron customization.

User of Kindle devices should be advised the Kindle Fire (2nd generation or newer) works with cloudLibrary, but e-ink Kindles do not.
