Developed in 2019 , the Michigan Collegiate Student Advisory Taskforce is a program designed by the department of state to engage young voters in government.
We had the chance to speak with Department of State spokesperson Tracy Wimmer, who explains why CSAT is critical in bridging the gap between young and old voters.
“With everything that’s going on in the world it’s more important then ever for people to participle in our democracy and make sure that their voices are and can be heard and that’s especially important for young voters, many of whom this will be the first time they’ve had the chance to vote.”
The selected task force members will advise the department of state and their peers on the challenges young voters face and how to overcome them.
