Summit County teens and young adults looking for part-time summer work may be able to find employment through the 2022 Summer Youth Employment Program.
Starting June 1, youths ages 16 to 23 may qualify for the jobs offered through the Department of Job and Family Services in partnership with Tri-County Jobs for Ohio’s Graduates.
“We are thrilled to offer this in-person work experience for Summit County youths,” County Executive Ilene Shapiro said in a statement. “The pandemic caused the summer youth program to go online the past two years, but we are now bringing this valuable paid-work program back into Summit County communities.”

Employment will run from June 6 to July 31. The eight-week work assignment pays $15 an hour for up to 20 hours a week. Work site placement will be determined to mitigate transportation as a barrier. Bus passes will be provided to those in need of transportation assistance.
Families are encouraged to apply online as soon as possible, as opportunities are limited and placements are first come, first served. Apply online at tiny.one/syep22.
A parent or guardian is required to apply on behalf of minor children. In addition, the household must meet the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families requirement, and the household income may not exceed 200% of the federal poverty level.
After completing the online application, families will be notified via U.S. mail, telephone and/or email of their eligibility status. Youths must attend a pre-employment orientation before summer work may begin.
